The potter held up a bowl that looked like it had been smashed and glued back together
with glowing gold veins.
"Is it ruined?" I asked.
"No," he said. "It is more valuable now. It has a history."
That was my lightbulb moment.
I had been trying to HIDE my cracks.
I thought my burnout, my sensitivity, and my failures were things to be ashamed of.
But in Kintsugi ("Golden Joinery"), the break is the beginning
of the art.
I realized I didn't need to "fix" myself.
I needed to illuminate the repair.
I combined this philosophy with clinical science (ACT and CBT), and everything changed.
I stopped trying to be "bulletproof."
I started becoming "anti-fragile."
And that's what I want for you.
